I noticed most Make Team Betters were against anonymous comments, and I decided maybe we could make our point a little bit stronger to the powers-that-be at Sugar-ville.
A few mentioned that there are sites that they do not visit any longer simply because of the anonymous commenter.
I want to know what sites and/or how many sites have you stayed away from or left because of the behavior of anonymous commenters.
Flash Lights
Manoush
Net-a-Porter
Here are some of mine:
I loved the content on Fashionista.com. When I started commenting over there, a few (or one) anonymous commenter would follow me around the site and disagree with everything I said and generally "bully" me and other people on the site who commented with real accounts. While their behavior was not against the Team "community rules" per se, they made the atmosphere very uncomfortable and not friendly. I stopped going to the site completely.
People.com. I used to visit their fashion blog and since there was no sense of community, I just stopped visiting it. The content wasn't that great and since there was no community aspect, I just didn't feel the need to check it regularly. This was due to the fact that you didn't need to "log in" and you could just comment with any name you chose.
1Also, any newspaper's Web site where you don't have to log in, I definitely do not comment. Talk about craziness on there! (I've noticed this also decreases greatly the amount of times I visit those sites)
2Don't know but agree anon. comments are bad. We already "hide" behind our screen name(s)...
3The first thing that comes to mind is Perez Hilton. First I stopped reading the comments because they were obnoxious and nasty, and then I stopped going to the site all together because I can't support somebody like him.
There are definitely others, I'll think of them and get back to you.
4perezhilton.com and most of those tabloid sites
5Perez. It was mostly the comments, but also that I kind of hate Perez.
6Ventibate.com
It was kind of fun at one point, but totally out of control last time I was there.
Thats why I don't go anymore.
I can't stand most tabloid sites like Perez.

7Timing Is Everything
Perez and Dlisted and a bunch others. It's stupid to go back to anon comments, imo. It seems like step BACKWARDS for Sugar sites.
8Good point, Lauren.
9Most of the sites already mentioned; People's blog, Perez, TMZ, and others of the like. I used to browse the sites, nothing serious but have become irritated at the lack of compassion or an IQ the posters have. I would sit there and shake my head; the comments were out of line and filled with stupidity. I do not visit those sites much (and Perez is a definite never.)
I agree Lauren, this is a backwards move for the Sugar network.
10i would say perez (which i dont visit anymore) and thesuperficial, but i just read the articles and avoid the comments, mainly b/c its all spam anyway or racist idiots that just spout whatever they want to without processing it through their heads.
11I have noticed on this sugar site that there are a lot more bogus comments with anonymous comments. Like advertisements and links to other sites... ggrrrrrrrrrr

13I noticed an anonymous comment (it was spam, mind you) on FitSugar today. Grr. I guess they're done "experimenting"
14So there are anonymous comments allowed on all the Sugar sites now?
15grrr is right, syako
16Hey everyone, we're listening to all of your feedback, so it is definitely appreciative. Please know that anonymous users still have to abide by our Community rules and we will not tolerate the usual, bigotry, personal attacks, spam, etc. We care about this community and therefore, going to do our best to ensure that it remains a safe and fun place for all members. If you do come across anything that rubs you the wrong way, I encourage you to just report it or pm me if you want to further discuss. Thanks!
