Ok, this REALLY concerns me. I just saw this on Pop:
- Psst. Anonymous comments are coming soon on PopSugar, but for now they're open on this post only!
Is this just going to be a Pop thing, or is this going to throughout the whole Sugar empire?
I don't know if I'll be playing as much if there are anonymous comments because anon comments = rude and stupid people.
True Religion
Wow, it seems like that would make a lot more work for Team.
1I'm really worried. I don't even go on sites that allow anon comments anymore because it just gets too nasty.
2Agreed!

that would generate more activity and equal ad revenue. hopefully they'll just leave it on pop. seriously, why bother to log in if the most valuable thing you have to say is about how fat Jessica Simpson is?
I agree with you Sy. It just brings out the idiots.
4Yep it will bring all the idiots!!
5Wait, so the comments aren't monitored?
6i just say a TON of anonymous comments on a Twilight blog, on Pop. I was wondering where they came from.
7saw not say LOL, sorry
8I think they will be monitored just like always but there will not be names attached to them so you will never know who they are!! So all they will do is take the bad comments off and noone gets "punished" because they don't know who to "punish"
9Exactly Carrie!
That's what I love(d) about Sugar, is that at least you knew who you were dealing with and you could look at their profile and see their past "behavior"
10Oh, then I'll stick with my first comment.
11Yep that is what I like too!!! Then next we will have all that millionaire.com bull crap listed everywhere!! I hate that!
12I agree 1,000%. Not a good idea at all
13Hey Everyone,
Thank you so much for your concern. As some of you saw, we are testing anonymous comments right now but please know the comments will still be fully moderated. If you see any nastiness use the report button as always!
Thanks
14TeamSugar
But, that's not really the point. Nastiness and idiocy are two different things but both totally annoying and a good reason why I love(d) Sugar. You could see who was being an idiot over and over and just come to expect it.
15I agree with Syako- anon comments are a BAD BAD idea. It makes the teaminess of this site, completely irrelevant. BAD move, Popsugar/teamsugar/sugar Inc.
16I agree with Syako as well.
17Also, anonymity encourages harassment and ninja commenting.
18If a site becomes more trouble for regulars than it's worth, they will move on.

yeah- not to mention the anons posting to themselves and pretending there is like 5 posters when really it is one douchebag.
19Will anonymous comments eventually happen on Citizen or Team?
20
Random comments on Citizen?
21Ugh, I hope they decide against anonymous comments, this would just ruin the site.
I agree 100% with you Sayko. I prefer knowing who makes these comments; having randoms voice their opinion will take down the site with idiotic statements. Overall, it is better when there is a (user)name/account to go with the comment.
22I hate anonymous postings. They're almost always rude and geared to hide behind anonymity. Rethink this idea, please.
23Not a big fan of this "experiment."
24Ugh- anon isn't good. Why bother???? Aren't there enough other sites theses anons can visit with their snide remarks? So much for the happy community!
25I agree- this "community" will fail with anonymous comments... Please PLEASE rethink this, Popsugar, Inc.
26The only time i have ever wanted to comment anonymously was on one or two group therapy posts because i have friends/family on here and didnt want them to see what i had to say. I can't say i care if people know my stance on certain celebrities though...
27not a fan of the whole anon. comment idea but it is sort of the same of ppl creating false user id's and making the same rude or nasty comments which I was seeing a lot of recently...
28still hope the anon comments get put to the side for the moment.

29Anonymous commments?
Hi gruaig!
See, making a connection with people is what keeps a community going.
Anonymous comments generate nothing.
30I saw one on yum as well that irked me
Not a happy camper of this continues.......
31
"if" not "of"
32boycott the experiment!
33I'm worried about it, too, Sy. I really hate sites with anonymous comments and have never stuck around one very long. I come to the sugar sites for the comments more than for the stories, so I would really hate to see the quality of the comments deteriorate. Honestly, I can't think of much of an argument for anonymous comments except, of course, for the ad revenue.
34I haven't seen any anon comments yet. I'm definitely not a fan of them.
35Truly disappointing.
I feel like I'm watching the decline of Sugar in slow motion lately.
36Team - since it seems that anonymous comments are here to stay (on all sugar sites, mind you) could you guys at LEAST consider changing the "status" bar color for anons???
And make it a color that isn't easily mistaken as other statuses. Every time I see an anon comment now, I'm mistaken to think it's a silver or platinum level Sugar!
Could you make them a color that will stick out so that all of us "regulars" will be able to differentiate. Maybe PINK?
37Yeah, for reals- what Syako says. Make the anons feel bad and want to register.
38
It should be a bright red box that says "LOSER" on it.
39Definitely; A shade that makes them stand out like a sore thumb. They did not register therefor the status box should not be the same shade as the members.
40We are making a tweak to better differentiate the color of anonymous comments, so thank you for sharing your feedback here.
41Can you also tweak it so they are no longer allowed??
42Keep tweaking until you realize it isn't such a great idea for our 'community', please!
43I'm with the tweaking till it goes away too.
